Mattel | MOTU Classics | Sorceress

Sometimes a toy company can destroy a really great character, and Mattel seems to do that more often than other companies. It's even worse when that character is from your own internal brand. The company says they will or won't do something, contradict themselves, and then take a crap all over it. They truly believe you will love it, and then when it fails to impress, they try to justify their actions. The Sorceress of Castle Grayskull is an extremely important character, and Mattel has truly pooped on her three times. It hurts even more so when it's a character you really like. Continue Reading

Mattel | MOTU Classics | Man-At-Arms

The most memorable cartoon heroes of the 80's always had important characters to support them. Duke always had Scarlett, Optimus Prime had Bumblebee, and He-Man had Man-At-Arms. It was one of the figures I never had as a kid, mainly because I preferred to have the villains, but I always regretted not having him in my collection. Part of it was because the toy didn't quite reflect the character on TV. He had a mustache and the action figure didn't. I guess it was a deal-breaker for me way back when. Continue Reading

Mattel | MOTU Classics | Rio Blast

Every once in awhile you get a lemon. For MOTU Classics, you can get a bunch. Rio Blast is one of the worst finished products out of the package that I've come across in a long time and I'd like to share it with you. I simply cannot understand how this item made it past through review, QC, and everything else in between. It's an insult from a company that is known for shenanigans from time to time. I give you Rio Blast. Continue Reading

Mattel | MOTU Classics | Hordak (Filmation)

The 2014 San Diego Comic-Con Masters of the Universe Classics exclusive was met with a rather lukewarm reception from a lot of collectors. Most felt a bit betrayed by what seemed like a lack of effort or care on Mattel's part. I didn't feel that way and was rather happy to see it was a figure you could afford to miss, or one that you'd really like to have. I actually really wanted it and since a lot of people didn't, I felt better knowing I could probably get one despite not being able to go to Comic-Con. Continue Reading

Mattel | MOTU Classics | Skeletor

It's the Overlord of Evil and He-Man's arch-nemesis. He was sinister but cool and is right up there with the likes of Megatron and Cobra Commander. He always lost, but he should be commended for his undying effort in trying to take over Castle Grayskull. So it was with great excitement to see how the Classics version of Skeletor would turn out.
